The 40 day fast for Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Maundy Thursday, the day before Good Friday.
Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday is a day of feasting before the start of Lent. Shrove Tuesday always falls on the Tuesday, 47 days before Easter Sunday.
This Tradition of feasting was borne from a need to use up ingredients before the beginning of the fast.
Many people like to give up something for Lent, some of us are doing our best to do the same but before doing so we did enjoy the feast that is Pancake Day.
We had a great day, not only did we enjoy eating delicious pancakes with a range of toppings, but we also had a lot of fun taking part in a pancake tossing competition. Congratulations to the winner, Audrey, who managed to toss the pancake 100 times. It was pretty impressive.
