ABBA got together in 1972 in Stockholm and have had astonishingly successful career over the last 50 years. The band split in 1982 after having had 25 songs reach the top 40 in the UK, the most successful of these being Dancing Queen. Following an almost 40 year break ABBA reformed, to make more music and record a tour soundtrack, not bad considering they are all in their 70s.
I don’t think there are many people out there who don’t enjoy an ABBA song, even those who claim not to be fans can often be seen tapping their foot along to the beat. Their music has spanned generations and for good reason, just the opening bar from Dancing Queen is enough to get a party started.
We had a fabulous time last weekend celebrating all things ABBA, we were provided with beer and wine, party food and decorations and we were transported back to the 70s by an ABBA tribute band who were fantastic, they had us all up dancing and singing along, what an afternoon.
A few years ago, it would have seemed alien to be partying in the afternoon but not now, in fact now it is a regular occurrence, who’d have thought it?
We are so grateful to the team for the enormous amount of effort involved in arranging these events, it does not go unnoticed.
