At Layston Grove we are very lucky to have an amazing kitchen team who never cease to delight us with their culinary expertise. The meals are always tasty and well-presented, and the desserts are naughty but very nice. For us, the only thing that could possibly be nicer than a tasty pudding would be two tasty puddings and this week we were lucky enough to hit the pudding jackpot when, to our delight, the dessert truck rolled into town.
Most of us had never heard of such a thing, we are all very familiar with the ice-crem van with his brightly coloured lollies and cheerful tune that announces his arrival, but this van was different. There in our car park stood a pretty, green truck, its styling was reminiscent of a 50s café. We were intrigued and not to say a little excited to find out what was on offer.

The dessert truck did not disappoint, we were offered ice-cream sundaes with sauces and sprinkles, milkshakes, crepes and waffles piled high with fruit and cream. We were spoiled for choice.  The team at Layston Grove never cease to amaze us with their creativity, they somehow manage to make every day interesting and fun, I mean to say, a truck full of desserts pulling up outside your window, whatever will they think of next?
The dessert truck is just one of the many treats organised by the management team at Halcyon Care Homes for both team members and residents to enjoy. Managing Director Daniel said, “This is our way of giving back to the team who have worked perilously over the past year to keep our residents safe and happy.”

One team member told us that she felt extremely fortunate to work for a company who hold their team in such high regard and who will go out of their way to ensure that everyone feels valued. 
Layston Grove , operated by Halcyon Care Homes, is a residential and dementia care home where residents and staff have recently received their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. The home is currently welcoming new residents for short and long term placements and loved ones are able to visit in dedicated Covid-safe social rooms (subject to current guidelines).
