Well, I have to say, I never ever imagined that I’d one day be sitting in a care home cuddling a piglet, a dog, or a rabbit, maybe but never a piglet. We have had a variety of four-legged visitors over the past couple of years, we have been introduced to spiders and snakes, lizards and ponies, guinea pigs and alpacas but never a pig.
The UK is a nation of animal lovers. In the last couple of years, the number of pet owners in the UK has jumped from 45% to 62%, largely due to the pandemic. When the chips are down, animals can bring comfort, from enjoying a leisurely countryside stroll with a beloved dog or snuggling on the sofa, cat on lap, they bring a sense of comfort into our lives.
We look forward to our regular animal visits, many of us have loved and cared for a whole host of animals over the years, none of us, however, have ever owned a pig. What beautiful creatures they are. Our visitors were so friendly, I got the impression that they would have snuggled on our laps all day.
We were all sad to say goodbye, they were just the cutest visitors we’ve ever had.
